Who we are

The OAKS is an Ofsted outstanding provider of initial teacher training, working with hubs spread geographically across the UK. Our mission is to nurture future professionals and give back to the local communities through high quality teacher recruitment, education and retention.

The OAKS Birmingham and Black Country (BBC) Hub is located in the Brirmingham region and surrounding areas, and the lead school is Fairfax Academy, Sutton Coldfield.

Fairfax Academy’s mission is to “enrich the lives and transform the futures” of every one of its pupils. They achieve this by ensuring that pupils access a broad and wide-ranging curriculum while being supported in a structured, kind and caring environment. Great emphasis is placed on personal development, so pupils have access to lots of extracurricular opportunities.

By training to teach within the BBC Hub, you will become part of an Ofsted graded outstanding teacher training provision. Our trainees benefit from a high-quality programme of in-school and hub-based support and training in additional to the excellent training provided by The OAKS. The combination of these programmes will help equip trainees with the skills, knowledge and practice to become highly effective teachers.
